Get Thrashed

There's finally some great news regarding the highly anticipated Metal documentary Get Thrashed:

Get Thrashed: The Story of Thrash Metal

Official Selection in the 14th Annual Raindance Film Festival

We are pleased to announce that Get Thrashed: The Story of Thrash Metal will World Premiere at the 2006 Raindance Film Festival in London. The documentary will screen on October 3rd at 9:15pm at the CineWorld, Trocadero Centre, Piccadilly, London W1. Director Rick Ernst will be on hand at the event.

The Raindance Film Festival is the largest independent film festival in the United Kingdom. This year marks the 14th Raindance Film Festival and will take place from September 27th to October 8th 2006. The jury for this year's film festival include, among others, Lou Reed, Dame Judi Dench, Marky Ramone and Dutch photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn.

The festival was established in 1992 and has gone on to feature such successes as Pulp Fiction, The Blair Witch Project, Memento, Oldboy, Steve Balderson's Firecracker, End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones, and many more.

Whereas last year's Metal: A Headbanger's Journey gave an excellent overview of Metal, Get Thrashed is the film The Old School has been waiting for because it specifically documents Thrash Metal and the influence it's had (and there's no Dee Snider in this film!). Plus, the filmmaker interviewed all the right people, including the likes of Ron Quintana, Exodus, and Metallica (who Metal: A Headbanger's Journey wasn't able to meet with).

Also, truth be told, Umlaut contributed to this film so I have a personal interest in it as well... So stay tuned to this space for the "411" about when Get Thrashed has its U.S. Premiere.

An update from The Director:

Thanks Brian!

It's been a long road and now we're doing the festival circuit for the next 6-12 months. Hoping to get into one of the Bay Area Film Festival in early 2007. Fingers crossed!
