Several parts of the city are under mandatory evacuation orders. Skychick spoke to NOLA friends today and the closest hotel they could find was in GEORGIA (For those who attended public schools: That's 2 STATES east of Louisiana!)!! Hotels in MISSOURI (For those who attended public schools: That's 2 STATES north of Louisiana) are also completely booked already.

Umlaut avoids being overtly political in this space, but Gustav's timing is biblically ironic given next week's scheduled dog and pony show by The P.O.W. and The Beauty Queen.. Let's hope at least some lessons were learned from Katrina.
